The growth of your spiritual muscles happens inside your own body, in coming to feel ridiculously liberated in your own skin. It takes place inside the space of your mind. You need to plant the seed of awakening in your heart-mind, this is the intention, this is your awareness of your desire to grow endlessly and towards a calling that makes your chest feel warm and stomach tingly.
This is you shedding your skin. This is where you tell yourself that you no longer wish to be cast into the corner by your shadows, your fears, your anxieties and be subdued by them. This is also where you begin to recognize the existence of the path, that it needs to be walked, and that there is potentially a lot of work to be done. But this work is the only work that you shouldn't be calling out sick on, so don't become an escape artist. There is no escaping. There is only shutting your eyes to what has to be done, and this we all know is not a honorable way to live or to be human.
This is you stepping outside your walls and into your traumas, into your laughter, deeper into the experience. This is you beginning to tell yourself that you love yourself and that you crave new ways of being, new ways of navigating, a new relationship to life. This is you praying to God inside yourself.
Plant the seed and water it only when it's necessary. Don't drown it in information and half-felt moments, because you'll just end up entangling yourself in yet another web. Take it slow. Touch the soil, feel it. If it's damp, let it breathe.
You want to grow endlessly, because your deepest nature is eternity. You, yourself are your own teacher and student. All teachings live inside of you. You are a living librarian in love with your own breathing library.
Having said that, I want to say that awakening is a process. It may start by the pushing of all your buttons, but essentially it is about wakefulness and the expansion of the feeling of continuously coming more alive. ~Zdravko Stefanovic
